What remains

The series came to life during my summer 2023 artist residency at SPAO, and gradually developed into the Relics series. 

It reflects the ongoing changes that Parkinson’s disease brings to my body. It acknowledges the gradual disappearance of capabilities and considers what remains.

In style, the series acknowledges the practice of artist Karl Blossfeldt and his images which portray the beauty of natural structures. Never formally trained in photography, he documented botanical subject matter using a camera altered to photograph plant surfaces with unprecedented magnification.
